Performance Platform

72 Volt Golf Carts

The 72 volt platform represents the top tier of electric golf cart performance. With 50 percent more voltage than a standard 48V system, a 72V golf cart delivers more torque off the line, maintains speed on inclines that would slow down lesser carts, and provides significantly more range on a single charge. If you want the best performance available in a street-legal electric golf cart, the 72V platform is where you start.

Our 72V lineup includes models from Royal EV and Solana EV in both 4 seater and 6 seater configurations, with standard and lifted options. Every 72V cart we sell comes equipped with premium lithium iron phosphate batteries, a high-output brushless AC motor, and the full street-legal LSV package. These are not modified 48V carts with a voltage boost. They are purpose-built 72V platforms engineered from the ground up for higher power output.

All 72V models are in stock at both our Atlanta showroom and our West Palm Beach showroom, with free delivery in both metro areas.

The 72V Advantage

Why Choose 72 Volts

More Power

A 72V system pairs with a higher-output motor, typically 5 to 7 kW compared to the 4 kW motor found on most 48V models. The result is noticeably stronger acceleration from a standing start, more confident merging onto roads, and the ability to maintain full speed when carrying a full load of passengers. You feel the difference the moment you press the pedal. The cart responds immediately and pulls with authority, rather than the gradual, straining acceleration that cheaper carts deliver under load.

Longer Range

The higher voltage platform supports a larger battery capacity, which translates directly to more miles per charge. A typical 72V cart achieves 40 to 65 miles of range depending on terrain, passenger weight, and driving conditions. That is enough for a full weekend of neighborhood driving without needing to plug in. For daily use, most owners charge their 72V cart once every three to five days rather than daily. The extended range eliminates range anxiety entirely, even for owners who rely on their cart as a primary neighborhood vehicle.

Hill Climbing

This is where the 72V platform separates itself most dramatically from 48V alternatives. Higher voltage means more torque available at low speeds, which is exactly what you need when climbing a hill with passengers. A 72V cart will maintain speed on inclines that force a 48V cart to slow to a crawl. If your community has hills, bridges, parking decks, or any significant grade changes, the 72V platform handles them without hesitation. This is especially important for neighborhoods in North Georgia and mountainous areas where terrain is a real factor.

72V Lithium Battery System

Samsung & LG LiFePO4 Cells

Every 72V cart in our lineup runs on lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery cells manufactured by Samsung or LG. These are not generic Chinese cells rebranded with unfamiliar names. Samsung and LG are two of the most trusted battery manufacturers in the world, and their LiFePO4 chemistry is specifically chosen for its thermal stability, long cycle life, and consistent discharge characteristics. Each cell is rated for over 3,000 full charge cycles, which translates to roughly 8 to 10 years of daily use before the battery capacity drops below 80 percent.

Integrated Battery Management

The 72V battery pack includes an integrated Battery Management System (BMS) that monitors every cell group in real time. The BMS balances charge across cells, prevents overcharging and deep discharge, monitors temperature, and protects against short circuits. This active management is what allows LiFePO4 batteries to deliver consistent performance charge after charge, year after year. Unlike lead-acid batteries that degrade progressively and unpredictably, a properly managed LiFePO4 pack maintains its rated capacity throughout its usable life.

Zero Maintenance

LiFePO4 batteries require absolutely no maintenance. There is no water to add, no corrosion to clean, no equalization charges to run, and no terminal greasing required. You plug the cart in when the charge gets low, and the onboard charger handles the rest. A full charge takes five to six hours on a standard 110V household outlet. There is no need for a dedicated charging station, special wiring, or 220V circuits. Just plug into any standard outlet in your garage and the cart charges overnight.

Weight Advantage

A 72V LiFePO4 battery pack weighs roughly 70 to 90 pounds, compared to 300 to 400 pounds for an equivalent lead-acid battery bank. That weight savings has cascading benefits: better acceleration, improved braking, less tire wear, lower stress on suspension components, and better overall handling. The lighter battery also means more effective payload capacity. The weight you save on batteries is weight you can carry in passengers, groceries, or gear.

Real-World Performance

72V Performance in Practice

Spec sheets tell one story, but the real difference between a 72V and 48V cart shows up in daily driving. When you pull away from a stop sign with four passengers, the 72V cart accelerates confidently and reaches road speed quickly. When you approach a hill or a bridge overpass, the cart maintains its speed instead of decelerating and forcing traffic behind you to slow down. When you drive all weekend without plugging in and the battery gauge still shows half capacity, you understand why the 72V platform exists.

The 72V platform is also the foundation for our lifted models that see use on unpaved roads, gravel paths, and rougher terrain. The additional torque compensates for the larger, heavier off-road tires and ensures that the lifted cart performs just as well off-pavement as the standard model does on smooth roads. For property owners with acreage, lake houses with gravel driveways, or communities with mixed surfaces, the combination of 72V power and lifted suspension is the most capable configuration available.

* All Royal EV and Solana EV models are manufactured as Low Speed Vehicles (LSVs) and meet federal NHTSA standards for operation on roads with posted speed limits of 35 mph or under. However, LSV regulations may vary by state, county, city, municipality, and neighborhood. Some communities, HOAs, or local jurisdictions may have additional restrictions on LSV operation. It is ultimately the owner's and operator's responsibility to ensure compliance with all applicable state, county, and local regulations regarding LSV use, including any community or neighborhood restrictions. Kliggy's Karts is happy to help answer questions about LSV regulations in your area.
